Actress Brooklyn Decker and retired tennis star Andy Roddick are sharing the vibrant interiors of their Charlotte, NC home with the world—after the extensive home renovation project was “nine years in the making.”

The 7,000-square-foot home was built in 1964, and was in rough shape when the couple—who married in 2009—came across it.

“One of the rooms had caved in; there was water pouring in through the ceiling,” Decker, 39, told Architectural Digest.

However, Roddick, 44, convinced her to take a chance on the property, which had previously only been owned by one family and needed considerable work.

“Our home was brought back to life by countless talented artisans and craftspeople in North Carolina," Decker tells Realtor.com®. "It's a home rooted in history, but brought alive by family and community. It really feels like a love letter to our state."

Decker’s affinity for interior design has taken a more serious turn in the past few years. Though she previously considered herself a “design hobbyist,” the former Sports Illustrated cover model would eventually find herself consulting on design projects for friends before developing a professional team of her own.

“A friend called in the middle of Covid, back when we wondered if TV production would ever resume, and asked if I could put my design eyes on a new golf concept he was starting,” Decker shared in a June 2026 Instagram caption.

Decker would go on to design seven Intown Golf Club properties with her friend, picking up a creative process she is “so proud of” and a lot of knowledge about “fire codes, ADA, and commercial grade everything” along the way.

But even with a handful of legitimate projects under her belt, the gut-renovation of the crumbling Charlotte abode she now calls home was an undertaking unlike anything else Decker had previously tackled.

As she shared with Architectural Digest, the home needed more than updates to save the “leaking ceilings and saggy floors.” The layout was dark and complicated.

“We were parents of two young kids,” Decker shared. “So the question was, how do we respect the grandeur of the house but also make it feel hospitable to a young family and one that can live up to the demands of everyday life?”

With the help of Ruard Veltman Architecture and contracting company, Stanwick Dunham, Decker and Roddick were able to transform the sprawling property into a glorious representation of their colorful taste—while maintaining its original Georgian charm.

The mom of two—Hank Roddick, 11, and Stevie Tessa Roddick, 8—wanted her children to feel seen in the design, as well.

“When our kids became older, we really wanted to incorporate and take seriously what they wanted,” Decker explained. “Because, how cool to be eight and actually have some say in the space around you? So now, the house is a hodgepodge of explosive color, a lot of which is totally inspired and dictated by them.”

Their daughter’s bedroom is tastefully decorated with a red, white, and blue color palette that matches her softball team colors, while the walls of the playroom are beautifully wallpapered and resemble something out of a children’s book.

The home is filled with whimsical details that reward those who take the time to notice them, such as a mahogany fireplace with wooden mice scurrying across the mantle—a detail Decker confirmed in an Instagram comment was inspired by British furniture designer Robert Thompson.

Carefully-curated vintage finds have been given the perfect home, with Etsy-sourced rugs, bold chandeliers, and a nearly century-old coffee table among some of the most interesting.

From what they’ve shared of the renovation process, it sounds as though Decker and Roddick will continue to update the home to suit their fancies as time goes on, with the tennis legend joking, “Whenever I see that furniture dolly out, I know I’ll be involved at some point.”

While the Charlotte home seems to have taken up the majority of their focus, the couple has a few more properties within their impressive portfolio, which also includes a $1.1 million New York City apartment and a 1.8-acre lakefront mansion in Austin that they previously listed for $12.5 million before pulling it off the market.

They also previously held a custom-built mansion in Austin, which was set on a 15-acre compound. The couple reportedly sold the home for $4.6 million in 2019.
